Lunch

In Spanish club this term we've been learning about Spain.  We ended the term by having a Spanish lunch.  We had paella, tortilla, jamon serrano (ham), chorizo and olives.  It was a fun afternoon!

Open Evening

The children coming to Spanish club have done very well this half term.  So far they have learnt some of their greetings and how to say how old they are.  They are currently learning their numbers from 0-20.

Last Wednesday we had our school's Open Evening from 5pm - 8pm.  During this time children worked on several activities enabling them to learn the names of the different colours in Spanish.  We started off looking at the different colours on the Interactive Whiteboard and learning how to pronounce their names.  We then moved on to a variety of colouring in worksheets which the children seemed to enjoy.  These were also available for visiting parents and children to take with them if they so wished.  Finally the children made some collages and then stuck on labels to it, naming the different colours.  The collages were wonderful and lots of fun to make! They are now on display in the corridor outside A2.

Here are some photos of the work the children produced:

I'd like to thank all the children who turned up on the night to help us out with Spanish.  You did a great job!

End of Year

Due to a very busy last half term the Spanish club has not met as often as I would have liked them to,  nevertheless it has been a productive year and we have covered many areas of the QCA units. The children seem to have enjoyed learning a new language and I look forward to working with them again in September.  I wish the Year 8 Spanish Club members all the best in their new High Schools.

Throughout the first two terms of the school year the children attending Spanish Club have worked hard on their number work!  We have played games, such as bingo, to help us learn our number vocabulary.  The more mathematically minded have enjoyed solving addition, subtraction and table problems in Spanish.  We now know our numbers from 1 - 20 very well! Facts about Spain

This term the Spanish Club have been researching facts about Spain and have produced posters about Spain based on their findings.  These sessions have taken place in the ICT suite. The posters have been printed off and displayed in the classroom.  Here is an example of the work the children produced.
